Fundamental Marksmanship:

  • Grouping Drills: Focus on consistent accuracy, sight alignment, breath control, and trigger squeeze. This involves firing multiple rounds at a target, aiming for the tightest possible grouping.
  • Rapid Fire Drills: Emphasise speed and accuracy under pressure. This involves firing multiple rounds at a target as quickly as possible while maintaining accuracy.
  • Positional Shooting Drills: Reinforce proper shooting techniques from various positions, including standing, kneeling, prone and barricade supported.

Tactical Drills:

  • Low-Light Shooting Drills: Develop proficiency in shooting in low-light conditions. This involves firing at targets using torches.
  • Stoppage Drills: Quickly and efficiently clear weapon malfunctions. This involves practising immediate and remedial action drills for common weapon stoppages.
  • Transition Drills: Develop the ability to smoothly transition between primary and secondary weapons. This involves firing a primary weapon, then quickly transitioning to a secondary weapon and engaging targets.

Key Points:

  • Safety First: Always follow the fundamental rules of firearm safety during any training.
  • Regular Practice: Consistent practice is key to maintaining shooting skills.
